Maybe it was the pinstripes?

Photo via Grantland.com

I’m sure, that there’s a certain age group that will really relate to 1990’s era NBA basketball and even a smaller group that will remember an Orlando Magic team in the early to mid 90’s that really gave the NBA a new attitude. Smack dab in the middle of what most consider the “Jordan” era, this team managed to make a rare finals appearance that did not include Jordan and his Chicago Bulls team. Penny, Shaq, Horace Grant, Nick Anderson and Donald Royal made up the starting line up, that lead the Magic to the 1994 - 1995 NBA finals, set against the Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon and his Houston Rockets. Sporting the unforgettable and incredibly impressionable, “pinstripes” jersey. This team had all the attitude a nine year old me wanted to play like, dress like and even talk like. A young team, with nothing but the want and will to prove themselves in a league of grown men.

"They were destined for greatness. Back in the mid-1990s, you couldn’t imagine a more promising basketball pairing than the Orlando Magic’s Shaquille O’Neal and Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. O’Neal was powerful and agile, plus swift and skillful in a way that hadn’t been seen in a 7-footer since Wilt Chamberlain (and hasn’t been seen since O’Neal retired). Hardaway was seen as the rightful heir to Magic Johnson"

Grant land, put together a great oral breakdown of the once famed Orlando Magic team. Read the article in it’s entirety here.

ANKLE SUPPORT MUCH?

This Friday the Kobe X (10) Elite releases in stores. The color way dubbed “Grand Purple” sports a close resemblance to the LA signature team purple. If memory serves us right, we believe this tenth installment released while Kobe wasn't actively playing. Is this the first time this has happened during his career? Well, while the last thing this shoe seems to be lacking is ankle support and full foot stability on the court, I know most of us would like to see Kobe filling these shoes with his own two feet. The NBA, isn’t the same without the Mamba.

Kobe X Elite "Grand Purple"

The KOBE X Elite features a Nike Flyknit upper construction with dynamic Flywire technology for superior strength, breathability and support. The shoe is the first Flyknit basketball shoe constructed with recycled polyester yarn – each pair is knit with the equivalent of five recycled plastic bottles. Designer Eric Avar used a high-cut silhouette for proprioception.

C O A C H E L L A T W E N T Y F I F T E E N

Indio, California nestled right behind the San Jacinto Mountains, is for most of the year a rather quiet small desert town. But for two consecutive weekends out of the year, this sleep desert town turns into arguably the biggest party in America. Some would say, that festival is a term that Coachella has significantly out grown. Not sure what would be the appropriate term today, but call it what you’d like, it looks like the marathon of parties.

Rolling stone put together a list of some of their favorite things they saw at Week 1 of Coachella 2015. The second leg of the festival, we’re sure will not disappoint.

"40 Best Things We Saw at Coachella 2015"
This weekend, Coachella returned to Indio and the small Southern California town once again became the center of the music world. AC/DC went for the jugular, Drake received an intimate surprise, Tyler, the Creator took us on a Freudian trip, Jack White insisted that "music is sacred"

30 YEARS OF AIR MAX

With Air Max Day behind us, it doesn’t mean we can’t sit back and appreciate the impact it has had since it’s inception. The culture spawned from the line of Air Max’s have swept across the globe, finding homes with designers, athletes, musicians, sneaker heads, skateboarders to doctors. With an appeal this broad, it’s quite hard not to take notice of the impact the shoe and it’s many different forms have had in the past 30 years. The sneaker veterans over at Sneaker Freaker put together a gallery of the famed line, from the Air Max Zero debuting in 1985 to the Air Max 2015.

Happy Air Max Day fam! If you haven’t hugged your feet today, forget about the Prestos and go slam a pair of your best bubbles on – it’s a celebration bitches! And have we got something special for you!

THE "BIG DANCE"

As the NCAA Basketball Tournament Championship is upon us, we wanted to look over some of the most notable championship teams over the past ten years. From Raymond Felton and Marvin Williams 2005 Tarheels team to Anthony Davis and the 2012 Kentucky Wildcats. Although hard to believe, that 2005 was ten years ago it’s an interesting thought to see how some of these players have gone on to blossom within the NBA ranks, while others have left their legacy in the NCAA.

2005 North Carolina Tar Heels

2006 & 2007 Florida Gators

2008 Kansas Jay Hawks

2011 UCONN Huskies

2012 Kentucky Wildcats

2014 UCONN Huskies

JUST A G' THING

The days of the stretch Town Car limo, equipped boomerang trunk antenna is long behind us. Known for their armored vehicle manufacturing, Inkas have out done themselves with this immaculate Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. Not only is the SUV built like a tank, it is also stretched to give maximum comfort while enjoying the plush, amenity-filled interior. The vehicle’s 544 horsepower 5.5L twin turbo engine gives you more than enough power to haul around town.

Yeezy Part 3

Hate it or love it, the newest “Yeezy” sneaker has shaken up the internet. This time teaming up with Adidas, Kanye West, has designed a sneaker that ensues a minimal aesthetic, but with progressive tones. The two characteristics are balanced and don’t battle with each other.

This first colorway was highly sought after, but not too many people were lucky enough to get a pair. Web browsers crashed and tensions were high with those trying to purchase a pair. Will the next colorway cause a similar frenzy?

"MONEY MAYWEATHER" VS. "PAC-MAN"

May 2nd, is the day that boxing fans and fans of a movie like story line will be tuning in on. Although, this Mayweather/Pacquaio fight may seem to have over shot it's "prime" window, this is something we all will be anxiously watching. It will undoubtedly be one of the largest and most spotlighted fight events in the past twenty-five years.

Bleacher Report has put together a very interesting article outlining exactly how the fight all came together. Click here to read
